Young Carers

Young Carers

We recognize that some of our young people are registered and unregistered young carers. This means, they care for a friend or family member, who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or addiction, cannot cope without their support.  This support can be practice, like cooking, shopping or housework, this may be physical, like supporting someone out of bed, this may be emotional, being someone to lend an ear, this may be personal like helping someone wash or get dressed, administer medicines.

We understand that caring for someone can be an isolating experience and we also understand they this may impact your child’s time at Hevingham & Marsham Primary School Partnership.

As such, we have worked with [Caring Together] (https://www.caringtogether.org/) to provide the following support for our young carers.

  • A Young Carers Agreement (attached a copy when finalized)
  • Mrs. Bloomfield, Nurture Lead is the schools Young Carers Champion
  • Provide regular staff training
  • Continue to raise awareness of caring and the impact on families and young people
  • Continually advocate for young carers and update families or services and support.

In addition, if you would like to make a referral, please either contact the Young Carer’ Matter Advice Line on 0800 083 1148 or use the referral form at [www.youngcarersmatternorfolk.org].

If you would like to speak to us about your child and circumstances at home that may impact your child, please contact Mrs Bloomfield via office@hevingham.norfolk.sch.uk or by calling 01603 754677
